In recent days, the port operators and government systems around the world are hit by the cyber attack called Petys. This attack is similar to WannaCry and because of this all the systems get shut down in mid of its operations and the companies are trying hard to retake the control of their networks.
The prominent companies like A.P Moller-Maersk, Global snack giant Mondelez International Inc experienced the attack and hence shut down their system as the prevention from further hazard. This sudden operation forced the employees to work via cellphones, text messages and personal email. Other companies including France’s BNP Paribas SA, U.K. advertising giant WPP Plc and Hamburg-based Beiersdorf AG, the maker of Nivea and Labello lip balm, were also coping with the fallout.
This portal cyber attack is initiated from Ukraine, these attackers infect the computer systems and for unlock they demand up to $300 as the cryptocurrency. Due to the attack, the India’s biggest container port facility at Mumbai faced problem in processing shipments and later it is done manually. Compared to other areas, the attacks have a limited impact in Asia, even though there was the news of virus spread in China, no large-scale outbreak was detected. However, unlike traditional forms of ransomware, which often provide secure forms of payment in order to release control of networks, the new hack has seemingly concentrated on crippling systems, rather than obtaining a ransom.
