What Does Roof Ventilation Mean?
When it comes to ventilation, you have intake (soffit) and you have exhaust (ridge). Air flows in and out of the attic.
The two components come hand-in-hand and without one or the other, air will not properly flow through your house they way it is designed to, which in turn could create problems.
Without proper ventilation you can have condensation and sweat issues that could eventually lead to mold and mildew.
The ridge vent is located at the peak of your roof and allows for the damp, warm air to flow out of the attic.
What Does Ventilation Do?
The soffit ventilation helps your home receive the right amount of airflow circulation while reducing moisture and heat buildup in the attic.
It is an architectural element located beneath the eaves of your roof and serve as both an aesthetic and functional purpose for a buildings roof system. Without a soffit, your rafter beams are fully exposed which give pests like squirrels, birds, and bats a way to get into your home.
