Job Summary: As a Commercial Estimator at Freddy & Son, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of our projects. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with proposed commercial construction projects, ensuring that our bids are competitive, profitable, and align with client requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, materials, labor costs, market trends, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope, requirements, and objectives.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
• Prepare detailed take-offs, quantity surveys, and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
• Utilize cost estimation software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the estimation process.
• Research and analyze market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure up-to-date and competitive pricing.
• Prepare and present comprehensive bid proposals, including breakdowns of costs, timelines, and other relevant project details to clients.
• Evaluate project risks and opportunities, suggesting value engineering solutions to optimize costs without compromising quality.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Participate in bid review meetings to assess proposal strategies and pricing competitiveness.
• Maintain organized and updated documentation of estimates, bid submissions, and related correspondence.
• Continuously improve the estimating process by incorporating lessons learned from past projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 2 years of experience as a Commercial Estimator in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in construction cost estimation software and tools.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry trends.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively to overcome challenges.
• A commitment to accuracy, quality, and ethical practices in estimating.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
